Take the JR Sagano Line to Saga-Arashiyama Station, or the Keifuku Arashiyama Line to its Arashiyama terminal. Both are a short walk to the grove.
From either station, follow signs towards the main Arashiyama area. The bamboo grove entrance is conveniently located near the north gate of Tenryu-ji Temple.
Step onto the paved path. Immediately, you'll be surrounded by towering bamboo. Take a moment to breathe in the fresh air and listen to the sounds.
Follow the primary path as it gently curves uphill. This is where youβll capture those iconic photos. Don't rush, soak in the atmosphere.
Look for smaller, less-traveled paths leading off the main trail. These often lead to quieter spots or hidden temples like Okochi Sanso Villa.
The path eventually leads out near the Okochi Sanso Villa. From here, you can easily walk towards the famous Togetsukyo Bridge and the Hozugawa River.
